Basement door chalkboard

                                               How are you this fine day?  Me, good! I'm on vacation. I will share pictures when we get back from our family trip. Until then enjoy another quick and simple kitchen project. This is our basement door. It is directly across from our side door. One of the first things you see when you enter from the side door.

                                                  It's pretty plain, huh? It needed something. I have wanted a chalkboard for the kitchen for quite some time. After I repainted the door ( to cover some boo boos from installing a cat door) I taped off the size and shape I wanted the chalk board to be. I got my chalkboard paint at the Home Depot for less than $10.00. We still have QUITE a bit left. The Boy wants a small chalkboard in his room now. I used white paint I already had from another door redo. So this project was about $13.00 all together including a new small roller( that made painting smooth a cinch) and the wall sticker I got for $1.00 at the Dollar Store. What do you think?

                                              I also added a new teapot shaped wire basket. The basket  had a slight make over too.

 

 

 

 

 Before

 

                                         I removed the vine stuff and painted it with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. I see my after photos aren't very close, are they?! Sorry about that. Here's a picture of Daffie's cat door. One of the best cat related things we've done ( I have to thank my Hubby for that one, his idea Thanks Honey)

 

 

 



                                               This project took a little more time with drying time. I ended up putting 3 coats of chalkboard paint on. What do you think? I think it will come in handy for those last minute messages you need to leave before you run out the door. Well, I'm off for now. I will be back next week with beach photos. Have a sweet weekend.
